Thought of the Day – Paul; Ephesians 6 - The Armor of God ; The Body of Christ

Dear Son:

In my previous writings we spoke about Paul and how through submission God was able to use him mightily and I want to continue that thought but go much deeper. Now son, this is going to be a long lesson, one you might want to think on for a while and even though it is entitled as a “thought of the day” it really encompasses a lot of thinking and writing on my part over many days and when it was done it had evolved into a long bible study rather than just a thought!

The “greatness” of Paul is not because of Paul but rather because of the “Great and Amazing Grace” in him; a Great Grace, Jesus Christ, which transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary! This is not meant to be a putdown of Paul but rather placing the emphasis on the power of Grace , glorifying Jesus Christ and not the flesh . Paul understood this better than anyone and I am sure if he were here he would be the first to agree with me that we should not glorify the flesh but rather glorify Jesus Christ, first, last and always. Doing this also gives us all greater hope that through this Gift of Grace, Jesus Christ, that all believers have access to we too might be transformed and experience extraordinary and blessed lives.

When God took Paul aside and instructed him personally God did so by revealing great mysteries which we now come to know as the Letters of Paul in the New Testament.

One of these letters is Ephesians and I want to look in particular at chapter 6 regarding the Armor of God to equip the Body of Christ.

The main theme of Ephesians is the church, the Body of Christ; this chapter 6 will deal with equipping that body. Another way to look at this would be that understanding that we are the army of God and this chapter deals with us being dressed appropriately for battle, so not unlike a quartermaster issuing clothing and weaponry to a soldier, here Paul will do likewise to our spirit man in Christ, Jesus’ Body here on Earth.

The biggest yet most important point being that whereas a quartermaster issues clothing and weaponry that the soldier puts on by his own efforts , the armor of God is an inward gift of God that is displayed outwardly through us , not by our efforts but it is received by faith so we can’t boast, this is very important! It comes about as a result of heart transformation not human endeavors.

The term, “the Body of Christ” is a great teaching in and of itself. Jesus is the head and now through us, “the Body of Christ”, which includes anyone born again irrespective of culture, nationalities or languages, is called to minister to the world as we have been ministered to.

Whereas Jesus was limited by time and space when he was here, his body now, the church, no longer has any limitations as to where it can go and this is even more powerfully evident when you consider the technological advancements that make the spreading of the gospel possible through the internet, radio, TV and other forms of communications unimagined in Paul’s time.

I can just imagine what Paul would have accomplished if he had a computer and Smart phone!

The concept of the “church” was a revelation given to Paul whereby God instructed him to teach us that whereas previously God had taken just one man, Abraham, and from whose loins came a chosen people, the Hebrews, and made them one chosen nation, Israel, now he would take many people, the justified by faith, chosen from many nations and makes them one body in Christ, the one man who paid for this great Gift; that is the correct definition of the church. We are the Church we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus a Gift from God to us; this describes you and me and all who are born again.

This was a radical concept at the time that met with great opposition especially from the Jewish leadership and which resulted in a great deal of persecution on their part against Paul and other believers so parts of the writings in the New Testament are to instruct and disciple “the body” especially in the midst of that opposition.

One of the things I have noticed over the last 30 plus years of studying the Word and being sensitive to the Holy Spirit is that God will take things we are familiar with and use those as the basis of expounding on a greater truth or revelation. It is one of the most amazing aspects of learning and I really enjoy it and never, ever get tired when God uses this method to instruct me. Literally in a flash, I see in my spirit man what he wants me to see, the hard part is committing it to writing and then teaching what I was shown to those I am teaching. I tell you, it never gets old and you can’t imagine the joy that comes with it! Such was the case here when I began to put together this lesson for you which is longer than usual but really good!

I can just imagine the old Apostle Paul either writing by his own hand or dictating as he commonly did the thoughts he had for the Ephesians when the Holy Spirit began composing the Letter through Paul.

As I mentioned earlier, the main theme of Ephesians is “the Church, the Body of Christ.”

Ephesians 4:1– 3 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love . Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Paul is teaching that the Church is to maintain the unity in practice which Christ has brought about positionally and to love each other. Be one, love one another a simple yet powerful message. It is this that should be the foundation of the Body now and always; one body in Love with Jesus and each other.

The true church is composed of all who are truly born again, that is our position in Christ, and Paul is further telling us we need to get along! Furthermore and to put it bluntly, the church needs to grow up and display to others graciously what Christ has deposited in each of us lovingly. We need to display who we are in Christ with the Love of God being uppermost and in a gracious manner not as a contrived human endeavor but as a fruit of the Holy Spirit deposited and developed in us!

What are we to be like?

That the Grace within us bear such fruit that outwardly all men would see the epistle being written by the hand of God through our lives, not by our works but by the evidence of Christ’s righteousness given as a gift to us. Paul speaks of this eloquently by the Holy Spirit when he is writing the Corinthians.

2 Corinthians 3:2 You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; 3:3 clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone ( referring to the law) but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart . ( Referring to Grace)

( John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses (a servant) , but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ (the son of God) . Note that the law came by a man but Grace and Truth which in the original Greek is one tense implying they cannot be separate, came by Jesus Christ, thus superior to the Law)

This was extremely radical in Paul’s time and even today many still don’t get it!

At the time; and the issue is still in the process of being addressed, the church was immature and rather than being in unity they were issues dividing it, wolves prowling about it, many questions arising or persecutions trying to destroy it.

One thing you need to know and NEVER forget is that though we all want peace we are in a spiritual warfare and if we are not properly equipped, the victory that Jesus bought and paid for will be stolen from us. Like it or not you are in the Army kiddo!

Grace came to justify the ungodly and to make us the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus by faith. We are highly favored, blessed abundantly, forgiven completely, and delivered now and eternally. There were spiritual forces then as now trying to come against us to steal, kill and destroy us and if we don’t learn how to deal with this we will be robbed blindly in spite of the victory God has secured for us.

Paul understood this better than most having faced unbelievable hardship and opposition but he was very well equipped and when he gets to Chapter 6 he has an image in mind to teach us brilliantly.

Paul, a Roman citizen and a well travelled individual, would have been very familiar with this image and from it he expounds the great teaching I want to share with you and hopefully you will learn and share with others beginning with your family and friends.

I know how it happened.

He was writing when God gave him a thought and immediately Paul understood that thought, I have been there, I understand this process. It is so joyous! The image accompanying it was clear and Paul understood it and from being quiet in his spirit, something we all want to learn to master as well, the Holy Spirit beings to compose and unravel this great mystery using things Paul understood to teach him things that are unsearchable! Jeremiah 33:3 'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. I love that verse and can’t remember how often God has taught me secret things! Not unlike a great artist, Paul picks up his pen, applies it to the parchment and begins to write what God has composed. What did Paul see in his spirit? This…

This was the common dress for the typical Roman soldier, legionnaire, found throughout the Roman Empire and people of the time of Paul’s writing would have understood this very well as this was a common sight whereas for us we might have to dig deeper to fully appreciate this lesson.

Now at first glance this may not be what you expected especially when you consider that Rome and their legions, though in authority, were hated by their captured colonies and Ephesus was no exception.

But it is a picture of Grace nonetheless, not in the natural, but in the spirit for it is in that realm that this chapter was written and it is in that battlefield where it needs to be applied.

By contrasting and comparing the Legions of Rome and this soldier with the Body of Christ and ourselves in Christ, we will get a deeper appreciation of the depth of the teaching the Holy Spirit prepared for us through Paul and thus equip thoroughly for spiritual warfare.

To understand why this is Grace we need to know certain facts about these Roman soldiers . Unlike today, the soldiers in the 1 century A.D., when Paul was writing this, had to pay for their own clothing and weapons .

The clothing and weapons Paul describe by contrast are Gifts from God to us his beloved to equip our spirit for the spiritual warfare we will surely encounter. We did nothing to earn it, we did nothing to deserve it, it was a gift given out of great Love, though very costly, no, priceless describes it better and provides all we will need to be successful and live a life of blessings! Not by purchasing or works but simply by believing in faith are we justified , ( Rom 3:28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. ) This is the appropriate clothing and armor we are equipped with and you really receive it when you are born again you just need to know how to develop it.

It is an inward transformation of the heart that is its foundation which will be developed by the Holy Spirit whose fruits will become the components we will call the Armor of God. It isn’t your armor, it isn’t my armor, it is God’s Armor and in that assurance we can rest that it is more than sufficient for anything you will ever face. I can attest to that having used it on more than one occasion when my life was literally in jeopardy. It was this assurance, not anything I did, that secured the victory Christ had bought for me, that is what I want to teach you. Simply believe.

All of this is immediately ours the moment we are born again but not unlike a modern day soldier receiving his gear, we too need to learn how to operate in it or better said we need to mature in Christ and learn how to walk in what we have been given. We have all received great gifts, we just need to know what they are and live out outwardly the heart transformation that occurred inwardly by Grace when we were born again . It was like my first day in basic training, a day no serviceman will ever forget, we get all this equipment and clothing and we have no idea what to do with it or even how to put it on properly. Just as my sergeant had to teach me, along with the discipline that comes with it in order to use it correctly and efficiently, Paul is likewise teaching the Body in this letter and specifically this chapter but it is the Holy Spirit that ultimately will equip you properly. Learn and develop this relationship, it will super abundantly bless you.

Be forewarned that as implied in putting on it first requires He taking off what we don’t need …I will let you think on that for a while, let it soak in, marinate! We will speak more of this later on.

So let’s look at this in depth and we will do so by looking first at what he wrote and though I have included the entire 6th chapter you will notice that I have highlighted the particular verses I want to study with you.

You might want to print the picture as I will be referring to various parts of the uniform and that way you won’t have to scroll up and down.

Eph 6:1 (KJV) ¶ Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise; (the promise being long life and many blessings!) ) 6:3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. 6:5 Servants (as applied to us, employees ) , be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; 6:6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart (this is the fruit of Grace, heart transformation!) ; 6:7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: 6:8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. 6:9 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him. 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 6:20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. 6:21 But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things: 6:22 Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and tha t he might comfort your hearts. 6:23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 6:24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

So let’s look at this more carefully…

The Roman Legions were highly successful for many reasons one of which included learning from their adversaries and applying the techniques and weaponry they came up against as being now used by Rome as a new and better standard whenever applicable.

Roman military personal equipment was produced in large numbers to established patterns and used in an established way. These standard patterns and uses were called the “res militaris” or “disciplina”. Its regular practice during the Roman Republic and Roman Empire led to military excellence and victory.

Initially, they used weapons based on Greek and Etruscan types. On encountering the Celts, they based new varieties on Celtic equipment. To defeat the Carthaginians, they constructed an entire fleet “de novo” based on the Carthaginian model. Once a weapon was adopted, it became standard. The standard weapons varied somewhat during Rome's long history , but the equipment and its use were never individual.

A common standard became the foundation of their great success. It is this concept that we want to stress as applied to the church in that Jesus is the cornerstone from which the entire church will rest on in order to be victorious. Whereas God never intends to change our uniqueness as individuals or our personality he does intend for us to be conformed in to the image of Jesus, our righteousness, through the Word and the Holy Spirit and this will bear fruit as the unbeatable standard for success. He makes us his sons, disciples. Jesus is now and always will be the standard!

Simply put, God is not wanting us to modify our behavior so that our heart changes, a temporary condition at best, He want to change our heart by Grace permanently that will produce gracious behavior now and eternally , big difference! Man’s attempt is Religion, God’s attempt is Relationship! Grace will equip those called and we who are his are called to serve along his standards .

Here is a little history lesson. The sword, 'Gladius Hispaniensis', came from Spain; the shield was adopted from the Greek hoplites; the helmet came from Gaul, present day France. In colder climates they incorporated the use of trousers from the barbarians and introduced them to the legions. Over and over again they evolved by taking the best they found and incorporating it so it became their standard and as such they were highly successful. By contrast and comparison the church cannot simply thrive on just one part of the Word it needs the totality of it and the full relationship with the Holy Spirit, anything less will be a weakened form that is highly vulnerable and in danger of becoming ineffective, does that make sense? This is especially true if we deviate from the Word and substitute man made traditions that will cause the gospel to become of no effect and which unfortunately describes far too many churches even today that are so entrenched in manmade traditions they have diluted the power of the Gospel. In other words, they are not using the standard equipment God issued but rather they are using man’s.

We must be fully equipped, not partially and it must be based on God’s standard, not man’s contrived attempts at control, we must get into the Word! Nothing else will meet the standard needed for success. All other endeavors by man will have only temporary effects but will not cause the heart transformation needed. It is the Grace applied to the heart that will bring God’s desired ends into fruition.

When the legions marched they would have had a standard bearer that carried the symbol of power which was expressed with a sign that read “S.P.Q.R.” which is an acronym from a Latin phrase, Senātus Populusque Rōmānus "The Senate and People of Rome". It was this standard that expressed both the authority and power of Rome over the territories. As powerful as Rome grew to be, it ceased with time and as all other man made empires and endeavors, it ended.

By contrast, our standard is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Cross . That is “the symbol”, so to speak, Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

Unlike Rome which lasted for just several hundred years, No power in existence will ever conquer Jesus Christ and His Gospel, it is eternally secured at the Cross.

The Cross: It was God’s will and purpose expressed , Salvation the goal ; “it is finished! ” is the affirmation that Salvation is secured once and for all by Jesus Christ and now it is the Holy Spirit that applies that Salvation to those born again . This is the concept of the Trinity , the three persons of the godhead working together as one in each of us.

God purposed Salvation , Jesus secured it and the Holy Spirit applies it . The Trinity explained. Victory!

Son , this is a very powerful teaching God h as given me for you, seal it in your heart. Over time you will appreciate it a lot more than you do now, trust me in this… it is very important and if you share this with others it will enlighten them deeply!

------

The Roman army was not comprised of just citizens of the city of Rome and Italian countryside alone as much as people from all cultures and conquered territories so in a way it was a worldwide army that effectively ruled for hundreds of years.

When Paul is writing his letter to the people of Ephesus and future generations he would have known this, whereas for us it is something we need to dig out since time has buried its significance, in their time it would have been common knowledge and through what he sees Paul is seeing Grace and His Body functioning not unlike a great army made up of both Jews and Gentiles from among the people of the known world.

Here is something for you to think on…Salvation has been bought and paid for every living person ever. Spreading the Gospel is the invitation into that experience, not by compulsory actions on our part by sharing the Grace of God, Jesus Christ. It is that power that will bring salvation.

God takes people from all walks of life.

Here is something you need to remember, whom God calls, he equips .

In all cases , not unlike boot camp, God first has to remove what we bring as to attitudes and pride and the rest of the garbage he can’t use before He can add, this is how we become disciples; how we will be used. God multiplies by first subtracting! Someday you will also get depth as well the humor of this…

Not unlike boot camp, it isn’t fun! Matter of fact, it can be very painful to our flesh! If Paul, Peter, David , Moses and even Jesus (Phil Chap 2) and everyone ever used by God went through it, don’t think you and I won’t !

I have to laugh somewhat knowing what this is like!

This is how the called are equipped! Basic training so to speak!

In any army certain people are chosen for certain jobs. Anyone who has ever served in the armed forces, and I can attest to this, will question the logic of how people are assigned to certain positions and some of those decisions will make you really wonder about the “logic”.

God has a better way and even though we might question His leading, if you trust you will see it work out better than anything you ever thought or imagined and since He knows you better than you even know yourself you will enjoy it beyond all you think or imagine!

Moses questioned God, he even told God to get someone else it took God 40 years to get Moses ready; he led approximately 3 million people out of bondage!

David was a shepherd that God chose to be King; it took many years before he became King.

Peter struggled, he denied Christ 3 times yet God had him preach a sermon that resulted in 3,000 people being saved.

Billy Graham, who was told by men he would never amount to anything, has literally preached to more people than anyone in all of history and millions of people were saved because God, not man, equipped him.

I can go on and on.

Everyone chosen has been called. No exceptions. Even Paul, God took him to Arabia for 3 years of instructions prior to Paul beginning his ministry. Can you imagine that Bible study!!!

Whereas we have this obsession with celebrity status in this world, God isn’t interested in that but He wants to measure faithfulness instead and all have been given the same equipment list to work with though the end result, the fruit may appear to be different but that is more a reflection of the circumstances that God has placed us in rather than the deviating from his standard, that is never the case.

Simply put, we are all in the same battle we just have different functions but draw equipment from the same list, does that make sense?

This is the equipment list that all of us have been given.

So let us go further and applying the Word of God so that we too might be as victorious and we will do this by beginning in verse 10

6:10 Finally, my brethren , be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

First thing we need to realize that it isn’t by our strength, wisdom, works, self-righteous prideful attitude , it is all by his might and power ! This has been painful at times when I didn’t understand this, was not fun trying it MY way! God equips but He has made Himself responsible for its completion, not you and me.

Grace is a person; his name is Jesus Christ , who is not only the Lord of His Army but the only one responsible for our victory; a victory secured at the Cross and given to us as a gift. It is the Mercy of God that withheld what we deserved so that Grace of God, the gift of righteousness, we did not merit and all the favor of God might be ours, BY FAITH.

I hate to admit and find it painful to write about but I can’t tell you how often I have failed and the pain that came with this because I didn’t understand this completely, hopefully you will learn from that. Wisdom is acquired from personal knowledge as well as listening to others who might have some , pay attention it will save you lots of pain!

Never think we had anything to do with it, simply believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. No additional qualifiers ever , this is the inheritance of the Saints. It is by faith we receive, not works.

Now, what is important to understand is that by saved; it encompasses more than just being saved from Hell and promised eternal occupancy in Heaven.

This sure salvation, (the word Greek word, Sózó , which means “to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction; to save suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health to preserve one who is in danger of destruction, to save or rescue ) is all encompassing every facet of your spirit, soul and body and your household as well, this is the Gift of Grace!

The battle isn’t mine or yours it is already secured in Christ, once and for all times. Simply believe!

Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Now when Paul wrote this it made me wonder, I didn’t understand how we can be “more than conquerors ”. Finally the Holy Spirit explained this passage as such, Jesus is the Conqueror, he secured the victory in our lives, we simply believe in him . In those days the army, when victorious, would gather the spoils from their enemies as gifts for themselves and their loved ones. This is what Jesus did, he paid the full price; we receive the full benefits , the spoils of the victory so to speak, we receive blessings from him not because we deserve it or earned it but because we are highly favored and deeply loved this is the essence of Grace. This is the divine exchange that took place at the Cross.

6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Having won the battle why do we need the armor? The latter half of this verse answers the question. Many born again Christians are being robbed because of lack of knowledge of this Grace . Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge .

Aside from the fact that far too many don’t take the time or effort to seek and understand what they have been given, you also have the fact that the devil will come as written in John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

The thief not only steals from those not prepared, it ultimately kills and destroys by taking from the victim the abundance Jesus bought, paid for and intended for us! Despite the fact he is already defeated and knows it full well the devil will attempt to destroy anything and anyone that Jesus loves, out of pure hatred for God , this is the plain truth simply put and if you are not ready you will be a victim. The Bible says he even comes as an “angel of light” to deceive as many as possible ( 2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.)

The armor is for the purpose of you being ready and, if you will notice as I will show you here momentarily, most of the components of that armor are for defensive measures with only 1 piece, the Sword, being the offensive piece. But then again, when you have the Word of God as your weapon, you don’t need any other weapons! Unlike the Romans who adopted weapons from others, we don’t need to do so since this is the one and only standard and anything contrary to it is a counterfeit! The problem is also that far too many churches have adopted “weapons” called tradition, religion, denominational preferences that are NOT based on the Word but rather contrived efforts by some to control the many and in doing so have diluted the Gospel to the point that many are dying rather than being lifted up! What is even worse is that many church goers simply accept these man-made “weapons” as being the “truth” when in fact it isn’t they simply have not read the Word.

The Word! The Word! The Word! We cannot deviate from that standard; we must know what it says!

Where is the battle being fought?

6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Everything you see in the natural realm with your senses is affected or being influenced by principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

People are not the enemy , they are both the object of the war and the prize Jesus and his adversary are fighting for, we are not excluded but being his we are the army as well; does this make sense?

I have read and studied a great deal of the “art of war”. I have noticed that in any military campaign you need to know where the enemy is in relation to your forces and one of the basic components of most successful conqueror reveals that holding the high ground gives you an advantage, always!

So let’s look at that.

Where is Jesus, our Lord and Captain?

He has the permanent high ground now and always and forever!

He was raised at the Cross, on top of a hill called Calvary and now where is he?

Philippians 2:5 ¶ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus ( in other words, have the mind of Christ, see also 1Co 2:16 for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.) 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

As a result of verse 8, then Father God, Abba, gave him a name above all name s as well as the authority that has no equal or superior!

2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

What is our Lord doing as we speak?

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God

Romans 8:34 says, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

He is sitting at the right hand of God, a position of the greatest and highest authority , he has THE Name Above All Names and 24/7 he is making intercession for you and me and all that are his!

If that isn’t enough…

Col 2:15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Jesus Christ is the ultimate authority, he is the supreme power and has taken the full responsibility of our salvation in every aspect of our lives. He is the head and we are the body. This was secured once and for all time at the Cross! ALL his enemies are defeated!

Establish this deep in your heart and mind!

We need to not only understand that Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God, he has also triumphed in every situation you and I will possible imagine or confront, EVERY situation.

When the enemy comes simply remind him what Jesus said, “It is finished!”

Where are we in relation every to him?

Ephesians 2:6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

WE ARE AT THE RIGHT HAND OF JESUS! BY GRACE!

Think of what this means…

Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God, we sit at Jesus’ right hand. Since he is above all principalities, powers and rulers, so are we. Since Jesus has direct access to the Father, so do we, we can boldly go to Abba Father and plead our case in prayer knowing we will be heard because of who we are in Christ. We can pray earnestly, with the authority of the Word which defines what earnest prayer means, which means powerfully , the Word of God over a situation with confident expectations of being heard . If we faint not, we will be victorious.

Why?

Ephesians 2:7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 2:9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

We were put on the Earth to glorify God so that he can show the Great Grace we have received to others through us!

Positionally we are seated with Christ; tactically, we are down here bringing others along; that is our purpose.

So when we pray, because we have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and we sit at the right hand, we can speak and pray God’s Word over any situation and by faith believe for the victory.

Can I prove this? Do I have evidence?

Yes, I absolutely do. When in 2011 I almost died and I was in the ICU and the drugs were not working and I got a blood infection on top of everything else, when my heart started beating irregularly and my blood sugar was at 1,700, which that alone should have killed me, I prayed and spoke the affirmations of what God’s Word said about me and being in Christ. I must have said those verses a thousand times; I was not going to be defeated! It took 10 days but here I am alive and well 4 years later, yep, the Truth will set me free then, now and tomorrow! That was not the first time in my life I have done this. I know whose I am and speak accordingly! It was NOT my efforts it was Jesus’ victory that got me through then as forever! Just as a soldier receives instructions in firing weapons, I spoke the Word and hit the mark!

Here is something else that I have learned over the years. You need to understand the difference between the TRUTH and Facts. The TRUTH is God’s Word, the Facts are circumstances.

Never, ever accept as TRUTH any Fact that goes contrary to God’s Word . This is how you do spiritual warfare. I believed I would be healed and God kept his word. I am not going to tell you it wasn’t very painful and difficult but in essence that is the nature of warfare and I assure this isn’t a game. It is this same spirit God has placed in me that prompted me and kept me praying for you and your brother for 30 years before I saw the changes that are taking place in both of you now. It is now a greater motive to intensify the prayers for the 2 of you and the 3 girls in your life , the loves of my life!

I have often wondered and though I don’t know how I have no doubts that the experience I went through that God gave me life will benefit others and glorify God, can’t wait to see what he does next, I am excited! To him be the glory!

Does this make sense? This also explains the next verse in Ephesians 6

6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Son, I have known a lot of pain in my life, more than I care to remember but there have been times, when everything and everyone was gone it is at those times you learn to stand and that God will NEVER, EVER leave you or forsake you. When God is all you have left is when you learn he is all you need, the deal is to learn this with the minimum of pain.

Notice I didn’t say it was easy, but you just have to stand. The best way I know to stand is surrender and know I can’t on my own and in this I learned what Paul learned 2Co 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

So what do you do then?

6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

The Roman soldiers wore a belt that was used to not only secure their scabbard and sword but more importantly it represented the authority they had. (Balteus (sword belt): sword belt) When Paul wrote v 14 above, he would have known this and the first piece of equipment he brings to mind is the Truth. It is with that and that above all things we need to gird our loins with, the Truth of who Jesus Christ is and what his Word tells us, that is the Truth . When all else fails, when institutions, governments, people, family or anything else you can think of fails, the Truth will keep you . Far too many of our brothers and sister have so shallow an understanding of the Word that they fall victims to the evil one, don’t be like that! Seek God and His Word!

That is the belt of the authority you have been given in the Word. Have the Holy Spirit teach it to you and how to speak with the authority we have been given in the Word, this is how you pray, this is how things change.

So what is the great Truth?

That we are the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus , that is the breastplate that covers my heart and gives me hope and a future.

These are some of the layers covering my heart…

I am the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, I did not deserve it, I didn’t earn it, and I who am nothing am his beloved, highly favored, blessed and cared for. I am an eternal thought in the mind of the God of all creation. My God is jealous for me, I am his; he is mine! It is on that sure salvation that I can stand, that is the truth. You need to grow into this not as an intellectual exercise but as a deep assurance deep in your heart, against that breastplate of righteousness no weapon formed against me will prosper.

2Co 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, (since God poured out the wrath meant for us on Jesus, he will NEVER be angry with us again, we are reconciled to Him now and forever!)

19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.

21 For He made Him who knew no sin (Jesus) to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Guard your heart my son, protect and teach the three girls in your life that we love so much, never, ever forget they are a gift from God to you, how you care for them is your gift to them and God, remember you are only a steward, handle with care, tenderly, they are priceless as you, your brother and they are to me. As a parent I know you finally understand this to the depth you need to understand.

We have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, we have been justified by faith, not our works, it is a gift of God by Grace whose name is Jesus Christ. We did nothing to deserve this, nothing we do can add to it, nothing! It is by faith!

( Rom 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, )

Just as the Roman soldiers wore a type of body armor plating consisting of many layers around their chest and shoulders, as seen in the picture previously shown to you, wear the promises of God in like manner. You have mastered many things in this life, master the Word or better yet, let the Word master you; there is no greater protection against the attacks from the evil one, guard your heart! It is by believing the promises that you get to the point you own them and see them come to fruition not unlike the seeds you have planted in your garden and greenhouse.

Just as the layers of armor plating covered the body of the Roman soldier, build on your knowledge and understanding of the Word and God will then create in you layers of understanding, principles, and revelations taking you deeper and deeper so that the totality of how God dresses you will produce a breastplate that is impregnable to attack. Do you see this analogy?

Son you will never know greater joy than when you are alone with him and he reveals the deeper secrets of who he is to you. It is a Joy Unspeakable, treasure these moments, they are priceless!

Of all the things I have learned, one of the greatest prayers I ever prayed was simply two words…

“Teach me!”

I have never been disappointed with the results of that prayer nor can I ever remember a time when God has ceased to teach me continually since praying it!

You would be wise to pray it as well.

6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

If you have put on the breastplate that will bring great assurance then verse 15 will make more sense.

The Roman soldiers wore a special type of sandals that resembled more of a boot than anything else. The soles of those sandals had metal studs, cleats so to speak; Iron hobnails were hammered into the sole for added strength similar to the modern cleat that enabled them to hold their ground.

The deeper you go into the Word the more Jesus will reveal things to you not easily found, deep and glorious insights, revelations that I cannot begin to eloquently describe the joy and peace it will bring you, even peace when it seems all else is falling apart. You will stand in righteousness and be at peace and you will be unmovable, this is what Paul is alluding to here. Having been reconciled with God, knowing full well that He will never ever leave or forsake me , that he is our friend, that he is jealous for us and loves us…I can stand in that assurance against anything and still remain in peace, this is the lesson in this verse. That is the gift of the gospel of peace. You will be able to hold any ground because of your firm footing, deeply grounded, not by your strength but rather by his through you.

You have already been given this peace and it can grow further. How?

The best decision I ever made after accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior was the decision to believe him and take him at this Word. Now that may sound obvious to some but it isn’t, I chose to believe and have him teach me, in that order.

Why?

Because I knew full well early on in my relationship that all of this was way above my abilities and if eternity was based on my abilities I knew most certainly I wasn’t going to heaven, if my healing was to come, it wasn’t going to be me that healed me, if my circumstances were going to change I would need help! I started learning this over 30 years ago and am still learning.

I have not been disappointed in that decision.

I didn’t know it at the time but what I had accidently done was expressed and taught to me later and is found in the next verse.

6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Faith is simply knowing you are not able and God is . You have already been given a measure of faith which resulted in your salvation, what you need to do now is fully realize all that this means and what it encompasses. The more you realize this and submit the greater your faith will become and the greater will be the evidence of God’s hand blessing your life more than it has already. It is a matter of intimacy. If you accept the premise of what I described as faith being simply that you are not able but God is then the matter of surrendering is what brings greater faith in your walk. I have both seen the victories and have struggled with this, it is a process that comes about through intimacy but that is what it is all about, a relationship, not a religion.

Even if you think you are an expert at something I assure you God knows better, faith is coming to that realization and asking him to show you his ways. Trust me you won’t be disappointed! I recall one day you and I were having a conversation in which you told me that God had given you some insights relating to your programming work. That is excellent, now if you are wise you will get into the habit of making that a priority and I assure you that this will result in some unbelievable revelations even about things you think you know! Ask him questions about being a parent, how to grow food in your garden in your greenhouse. This opens up two things, first greater direction through intimacy and it will develop your prayer life because pray is an open ended conversation with the God of all creation!

Think about that for a moment, you can have an intimate, personal, highly fulfilling life, more than you imagined and you have a relationship with the God of the entire universe, it that doesn’t make you be in awe, I don’t know what will!

Unlike the shield used by the Romans as depicted in the picture above, faith in Christ can grow with time as you learn more and more and begin to trust deeper and deeper. You do this primarily by getting in the Word. Furthermore, reading commentaries or books written by qualified individuals, and there are many who write junk so be careful what and who you read, will also add to but never replace the Word.

The “Scutum” the Roman shield of the time when Paul was writing this was a composite made rectangular shaped shield that was about 4 feet tall, about 16 inches wide and about 12 inches deep. (look at the picture). It was extremely well made and was built out of wood and leather. Originally they copied the ones used by the Greek soldiers, Hoplites. Later on when they discovered flaws in that design they modified them, they adapted and added metal edge around it which resulted in the shield that existed when Paul was writing this and which were very strong.

The shield was light enough that it could be held with one hand yet large enough that it would offer protection to the one carrying it, especially in hand to hand combat. Early versions when used in the Punic Wars against Cartage resulted in the Romans having a major advantage especially in hand-to-hand combat which very accurately describes spiritual warfare, sometime you got to just get in the face of the adversary, take your ground by faith and believe and persist.

I assure you son, you will know combat in spiritual warfare and the greater your shield the better you will be able to protect yourself against “able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”

In the time when Paul was writing this and using the model of the Roman soldier to explain this to us, armies still used fiery darts that were lit up and thrown against the enemy. This may sound strange to us but in those times that was a common practice among warring nations.

In spiritual warfare the enemy will typically use lies, deceit, and approximations from the truth to weaken the Word in you and from this vulnerable position, it is where you will most likely fail. The attacks come to your mind and the darts can be words spoken by others as well. Been there, done that, I have had both victories and defeats. What you believe in and act on will determine what you will see come about.

Words are darts flung against you by the enemy in order to causes doubt and deceit which further validates what I said previously as to you needing to get into the Word.

I think the best way to emphasize this is seeing how the Secret Service fights against counterfeit currency. They don’t teach their men by looking and study what is counterfeit, they teach them and have them know what a real currency looks like that when they see the counterfeit they will recognize it immediately. That’s what we all need to do, know the Word so well that when the lies appear or falsehoods we will immediately recognize them and avoid.

Does that make sense, son?

I have blown it, as most people I have met, but we serve the God who restores, and even in defeats I have seen God work out all things for good to them that love the Lord and are called by his name, it is a walk not a destination.

So continuing…

6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Notice here that Paul has included the helmet and the sword in the same verse and it isn’t an accident in him doing so.

The Roman helmet, which was originally adopted from the Celtic tribes and evolved so that by the time of Paul’s writings they were known as a “Montefortino helmets” and are generally characterized by a conical or round shape with a raised central knob, and a protruding neck guard as well as cheek plates to protect the sides of the head, This is what Paul saw in his spirit when he wrote this verse.

If you will notice in the picture, it guards the head, neck and sides of the face along the cheeks and it was made of metal and far superior to leather helmets worn by soldiers from other nations.

In those days infantrymen, such as the one depicted in the picture above, were most vulnerable to attacks by cavalry and this helmet was designed for the purpose of protecting them from their adversaries who would make every attempt to attack the head and decapitate it from the body!

I am amazed at God’s timely wisdom in giving us this picture which is still as valid today as it was when it was written.

As I write this I can’t help notice how timely all of this is even after 2,000 years. Satan is still trying to get us, the Body of Christ, separated from the Head , Jesus Christ, for in so doing the church becomes ineffective and if he can get us to focus on anything other than Jesus Christ then we become vulnerable to his attacks.

The swords that the Roman soldiers came up against were doubled edged broadswords measuring 3 to 4 feet long meant to decapitate.

Metaphorically speaking we the church come up against the same things when we are attacked by Satan in that he bring blows that will concentrate against our Security in Christ with broadsword blows of doubt and discouragement and those attacks are directed against your mind and heart which are the battlefields.

Since knowing your enemy will insure your victory then know that he will attack by trying to remind you of your failures, sins, unresolved problems, health issues or anything that will cut you and ultimately defeat you.

Don’t fall for this. ALL your past, present and future have already been settled at the Cross and covered by the blood once and forever!

You swing back by reminding him who you are in Christ, that you are the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. All the affirmations that I had given you previously as the “In Christ, I am…” handout and which I have included at the bottom of who you are how you swing back by faith and if you faint not, you will be victorious not by your effort but because it is all been won for us at the Cross when Jesus said, “it is finished!”

Remember this, since nothing we did resulted in our being made righteous through Christ Jesus, nothing we do will ever change how God sees us even when we sin, that is what being justified means. God never, ever will look at our performance bit rather Jesus’ at the Cross and that was more than sufficient

Does this make sense?

Now this is an important concept God taught me as I was writing this…

Since Paul is addressing believers, putting on the helmet of salvation cannot refer to receiving Christ as Savior. The only ones who can take up any piece of God’s armor, and the only ones who are involved in this supernatural struggle against Satan and his demon forces, are those who are already saved. Since we are the Body of Christ and Christ is the head the implication here tells me that non-believer are dead because they have no living head attached, the sin in their lives that they were born with decapitated them as it had all of us , think on that for a moment, they are the walking dead and this is not an attempt at humor!

The purpose of the Gospel is to attach, metaphorically speaking, a Head, namely Christ’s, to the walking dead that they will be born again as we have!

This point is what Paul wrote when he said, 2Co 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

( 18 ) All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:

(19) that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

(20) We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God ( 21 ) God made h im who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

We need to “ keep our heads ” when in a battle.

Although many aspects of our walk will involve stepping out in faith, by and large we need to watch what we allow to come into our hearts and minds, garbage in, garbage out! This is just common sense that what we fill ourselves with is what we will get so it makes sense to make the Word a priority since ultimately it will guard you not unlike a helmet guards a soldier.

Does that make sense?

OK, here is another facet

The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God and they way that it is used is mainly by speaking and here we need to add a warning.

The moment you were born again the creative Holy Spirit that created all that is seen and not seen came to live in you. You have creative power in you because he abides in you therefore, and I can’t stress this enough, you need to guard what you say literally .

Read this…

Speaking of Jesus Rev 1:16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Jesus’ spirit is in us, the Words we say are not without effect both for and against us. Think of it this way, a double edged sword if not handled properly can wound the person using it as well as those around him who he never intended to wound . So what you say will have an effect, more so now that the power of Words is magnified as never before because of the Spirit in you.

Pro 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Inadvertently you can kill people you love with words spoken in hast or anger , even in what we think is wit, retorts, sarcasm or “humor” , watch your words, give life!

If you don’t think this is true ask someone you love if you ever hurt them with words and wait for a response…

We will discuss this in greater detail later.

Finally,

6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.

I have had the honor and privilege to preach the Word, teach the Word and Pray in the Spirit both individually as well as in corporate prayers.

Being that the Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God then the use of it can be done in these three manners and notice that after giving us instructions in the equipment list Paul ends it by telling us to pray.

If the armies of Rome conquered the known world by collective use of force then the army of God, the Body of Christ, will overcome by prayer, WILL CONQUER EVEN MORE, both individually as well as corporately.

Prayer changes things . It is the opportunity for us on the frontlines to communicate with the head of the Army, the Captain, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The thought of that is awesome! I get to speak with and listen to him and I can be in relation with the God of the entire Universe who loves me! Prayer can be described simply , but effectively , as an open ended conversation with the one who loves us most .

That thought, when it has had time to really sink in at the depth it needs to be at, will be added inducement to pray that much more and I can say that though I have enjoyed preaching as well as teaching I enjoy praying as the best use of Words and I enjoy that much more. I have known great Joy in preaching and teaching but the Joy of intimacy in prayer is the greatest of them all!

Prayer is intimate, I can be myself, I am not trying to impress anyone and God listens to me just as I am.

You and I and every one of us are blessed because people we will never meet in this lifetime prayed for us daily and I pray for people in like manner who are literally all over the world. I won’t know it till I get to heaven but I have been both blessed by others prayers as well as I have impacted those I prayed for.

Always keep the bigger picture in your consciousness.

Just as the Army of Rome conquered as a unit you would be wise to pray with my favorite-daughter-in-law whom I love and teach the babies as well but I strongly suggest you find male companions that would be prayer warriors with you. It would do you well and there is greater strength in that endeavor. One of the biggest mistakes I made in my walk was not having mentors or enough male figures I could go and pray and seek counsel from, don’t make that mistake.

The power of prayer is increased exponentially as seen in this verse and since we are in Christ…

Lev 26:8 Five of you shall chase a hundred and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight;

your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.

Make getting prayer partners a priority .

I have prayed for you and your brother, all your girls and I am blessed that God is blessing you! I pray for my friends, for the body of Christ, for strangers and I have the privilege to come before the throne of God pleading my case on their behalf, nothing compares to that!

There are also many strangers to you that throughout the years have prayed and continue to do so. Do likewise!

Besides allowing the Word to master you, master prayer!

We will do a study on this as well.

So there you have it, we have reached the end of this study that I have typed, now begins the process of you letting it marinate in your spirit and bless you as it has me in that I can build you up.

I am your father, you are much loved! Now that you have children you understand this at a different and deeper more intimate level that you would not have understood previously but never forget that the God of the entire Universe came down to our level that we can know the intimacy and love of God personally!

He sent us Jesus Christ this is his lesson!

Enjoy it as much as I did in writing what he taught me!

Luv ya!

Dad

P.S. give this lesson away to someone else and have them do likewise so others will be blessed!

(To the readers who will study this lesson:

When I wrote this letter to my son it was not my intention that it would be on the internet, at most I might share it with a few friends but that is all. I have added the section I referred to earlier of whom I am “in Christ”. This little handout that I have given many away to family and friends represents verses that tell us how God sees us now. He no longer sees us, he sees us “in Christ”, we are a new creation. It is these verses, most of which I have memorized, that I literally said hundreds of times when I almost died in 2011. It was literally all I had left when the medicine didn’t work, my friends and even my pastor didn’t think I would survive and when I was all alone. One night, when there was no one around and I hurt in every fiber of my being, I was in so much pain and all I wanted someone to hold my hand for a little while and there was no one there, it is this that kept me for it is all I had…it turned out to be all I needed! In the handout I refer to the verses but you need to read them in their entirety as for the sake of fitting them on the page I have abbreviated some of them.

What I did when I wrote this was to print it and I have one prominently displayed on my desk where I write these bible studies as well as copy inside the cover of my Bible.

They have been a source of great comfort and I pray they will bless you as well.

All I ask is that if you are going to print it, print extra ones and give them away to others as I have given to you, a gift of Grace!

In Christ, I am…

A child of God (Romans 8:16); a friend of God (John 15:15)

I have access to Father God through the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 2:18)

I am assured that Nothing can separate me from the love of God (Romans 8:35-39)

I may approach Father God with freedom and confidence (Ephesians 3:12)

I am justified (Romans 5:1) (God in Christ sees me just-as-if-I-had-never-sinned)

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1)

I am seated with Christ in heavenly realms (Ephesians 2:6)

I am redeemed from the hand of the enemy and the curse of the Law (Ps 107:2; Galatians 3:13)

In Christ I am a new creation: old things are passed away;

all things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17)

I am partaker of his divine nature (2 Peter 1:4) I am led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14)

I am delivered from the powers of darkness and

brought into the Kingdom of his Son (Colossians 1:13)

I am kept in safety wherever I go Jesus commands his angels

concerning me to guard me in all my ways (Psalms 91:11)

I am casting all my cares on Jesus because he cares for me (1 Peter 5:7)

I am strong in the Lord and the power of his might (Ephesians 6:10)

I am doing all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)

I am an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ (Romans 8:17)

I am blessed coming in and going out (Deuteronomy 28:6)

I am an inheritor of eternal life and this life is in his Son (1 John 5:11, 12)

I am blessed with all spiritual blessings in Christ (Ephesians 1:3)

By his stripes I am healed (1 Peter 2:24)

I am exercising the authority Christ has given me over the enemy (Luke 10:19)

I am more than a conqueror in Jesus name (Romans 8:37)

I am an over comer by the blood of the Lamb

and the word of my testimony (Revelations 12:11)

I am daily overcoming; greater is he that is within me than the one who

is in the world (1John 4:4)

I am living by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7) I am no longer conforming to

the pattern of this world, but I am being transformed by the renewing

of my mind (Romans 12:1, 2)

I am a laborer together with God (1 Corinthians 3:9)

I am being conformed into the image of his Son (Romans 8:29)

In Christ who dwells in me I am the light of the world (Matthew 5:14)

I can be holy for he is holy (1 Peter 1:16)

My Father God made Jesus, who had no sin to be sin for me,

so that I might become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21)

As far as the east is from the west,

so far has he removed my transgressions from me (Psalms 103:12)

I am complete! In Christ (Col. 2:10) I am significant! (Philippians. 3:20)

Praise God!!! I am all these things in Christ Jesus!

As God’s Grace and Truth of His Word, become more deeply rooted in me,

the greater will be my knowledge of who I really am in Christ Jesus

and His finished work at the Cross.

It is in this deepening

intimacy that I can abide in him and him in me, all things are now possible for

those who are in Christ Jesus!

This is how God sees me!

It is because Jesus is in me that I am in Christ, It is not on my own,

To Him be the Glory, and Honor and Praise!

Christ in me, I am in Him, In Christ I am all of this and more by virtue

of Grace, God’s unmerited favor and the finished work of the Cross!

Pray this prayer for others and yourself:

“Lord, may I see what you see, hear what you hear, love what you love,

hate what you hate and feel what you feel”
